Physical Therapy

Student Population: Physically impaired students who need assistance or modifications to participate in their classroom program.

Class Size: Therapists and Therapy aides work with students individually, in small groups or teach classroom staff how to carry out therapy routines.

Goals: To help students improve mobility skills in the school setting.

Activities: Therapists work with students in the classroom to improve specific functional gross motor skills, to provide appropriate positioning for classroom activities, to consult with classroom staff, to teach appropriate use of adaptive equipment and to teach correct handling and lifting techniques.

Teacher/Staff Positions: Physical Therapist and one instructional assistant shared with Occupational Therapy.

Curriculum: M.O.V.E. and Carolina Curriculum.
