Occupational Training

Student Population: This program serves secondary trainable mentally handicapped and those who also have physical, behavioral, and vision or hearing deficits. Students range in age from fourteen to twenty-two years.

Class Size: The average class size is ten students. 

Goals: Goals are to increase on-task behavior, improve social skills, follow directions with more than one step, improve motor skills, learn to work with others and learn appropriate use of tools and equipment in order to improve employability skills.  

Activities: Most learning is through contract work from state and private sources. Activities include stuffing and labeling envelopes, placing dividers in printed materials, counting and rolling coins, folding, stapling, and stuffing pamphlets.

Teacher/Staff Positions: One Teacher and one instructional assistant.
